Swapping final drives between D series boxes?

quick question, dont know if anyone has tried this, but is it possible to swap Final drives between different D series gearboxes?
ie From a D16z6 to a D14z2
Was just looking at the Mfactory site and quite fancied a 4.7 final drive.
Thanks 8-)

The D14s have transmission (casting mark A000) with small bearings and the D16z6 with big ones (casting mark B000) and the final drive shaft is thicker on the D16z6.
So it is impossible to swap the final drive.

can you have a look for the gearboxes between ej9 and mb2 civics? mb2 has the 4,4 fd

Ah well there goes that idea :( thanks for the fast reply though :D
ill probably just look into a tranny swap in that case.

5d civic 1400cc final drives are swappable with ej9 gearbox because they have the same size bearings

The best think that you can do is to swap a transmission from 5door civics 1400cc

YES you can !

What does the size of the bearings from the diferential has to do with mounting a Final drive gear ?
You can switch the final drives out between small and big bearing diferentials.

If it really made a difference then MFactory would have listed D16z6/D16y8 and D16a9 apart from all the other small bearing casings. And they don't do that.

The issue is that I said this way "big-small bearings" to be clear for people that are not familiar with D-series gearbox specs.
But the truth is that the countershaft bearings between A000 and B000 is different (as the differential bearings too). So the B000 transmissions have thicker countreshaft than A000, that's why the final drive can't be swapped (and always the final drive swap is going with it's countreshaft)

Big case countershaft bearing is 30x55 x21
Small case countershaft is 30x47x21

The internal diameter and the thickness of the bearing is the same it's just the outer diameter that's different .So the countershaft still fit's small case transmissions ;)
