OK, I am going to swap my crappy SFI ecu soon.
Parts I have at this moment:
P06 ECU
D16Z6 IM with TB and sensors
D16Z6 fuelrail with 240cc injectors
Hondata heatshield (used, is that a problem ?)
D15B7 throttle cable
TD-80U OBD2a D15Z6 ignition
D15Z6 OBD2a engine wire loom
4 wire O2 sensor
OBD2a --> OBD1 conversion harness
I will post my progress and experience.
Currently I still need the studs and nuts to mount the fuel rail on the IM and some new copper rings and o-rings to avoid any leakage.
A problem I already ran into was the fact that the D15Z6 only has a single wire O2 sensor, this will give CEL light but does it also trigger limp mode ?
Other question, those heatshields should be reusable isn't it ?

One-wire lambda will limp the ECU untill around 3500-4000 rpm. Above that you get full power... happened to me after first OBD1 tryout which was 300km in one go. I took some mighty risks in 2005 hehe.
If you want the ECU to be un-limped... or rather eCtuned, contact CRX2 on this board. You're from NL wasn't it? edit: ah yes silly me, it is in your avatar.

I think i'm going to chip it myself first.
Right now plans have slightly changed since I got hold of a D16Y8 head with cam
In the mean time I got also hold of a 4 wire lambda
So I must convert the ECU to VTEC first (will do that with new parts instead of trying to find a way-to-expensive legacy part high-side switch) and then I will just build a base rom myself with Chrome

Things are about to move fast though, I will pick up my D16Y7 engine this week
I'll ditch the old D15Z6 engine as I don't trust it too much (it consumes oil). Finding a nice D15/D16 for the right price took some time, but I finally found the Y7 engine a few weeks ago.

So how is it going? Are you putting the Y8 head on your D14 with OBD1 conversion or onto the D15Z6??
It would be good to see some pictures because I'm on the verge of getting all the parts I need for this conversion. Which engine loom are you going to use?

I have a question though, are OBD2a alternators different from SFI alternators ? It seems like my SFI alternator only has 3 pins where as the OBD2a connector has 4.

The difference is in the ECU control of the alternator. The 4-wire can force the alternator to go to low volts (~12V) on demand by the ECU were the 3-wire almost always puts out 14.5V.
Not sure its the SFi only that has 3-wires, there might be others.
I once sorted the alternator plugs out and I should have put it on the website. Darn... can't find my notes on it now, otherwise I gave 3 plug types and how to sort them out.
I actually once plugged a 4 wire alternator like a 3-wire with an ECU thinking it was the 4-wire type. Still following me? Well it worked out nicely without error codes. When in real need, you can mix and match the alternator types I think.

It doesn't run great however, the idle is very bad.
No solid CEL, but there might be other problems, i'm finding out how I can read ECU codes
I also can't time the engine on the 12* mark I think...
The engine keeps hardly running, acceleration through the rev range is fine
I cannot drive it atm (no tax, MOT and insurance) so there isn't much I can test
