Today my ej9 started raising the engine temp, but the heater@max heat stayed cold/luke warm. After a while the temp dropped after i fiddled with the heatercontroles, and the heater became warm. What's wrong with it? Engine or heatercontroles??
Haven't had time to check the coolant.
Any of you got an idea?

Re: Engine temp raising, heater stays cold
Straight from the workshop manual.
Firstly, coolant levels still good?
Assuming the blower motor was running well the following items are advised to check:
-Clogged heater duct
-Clogged blower outlet
-Clogged heater valve
-Faulty airmix door
-Heater valve cable adjustment (should not be the case since it worked properly later on)
-Air mix control cable adjustment (uh isn't that the same as above?)
-Faulty cooling system thermostat (should mean cold engine which was not the case?)
-Clogged evaporator (with air conditioning)
-Frozen evaporator (with air conditioning)

Re: Engine temp raising, heater stays cold
Turns out that my radiator is shot, and my coolant level was pretty low.
Just managed to get to the dealer, where my younger brother works.

Re: Engine temp raising, heater stays cold
Need a 'new' radiator? I almost have my green EJ9 ready to be disassembled (trunk lid reserved for you!). Fine radiator in there as well.
Re: Engine temp raising, heater stays cold
Well I was considering a alloy rad instead.
Thanks for reserving the trunk lid. Got any pics of the rear bumper, I know you said it's not in good shape. But still better than mine

I'll get you some pics this weekend probably (though you can most likely pick it up saterday/sunday if you like), it is only the right 'fender' part which is bend out a small bit... yes it is better and perhaps with a heater you can get it back into shape.
