Engine Coolant's level fluctuation.
That is something that bothers me. It has happened a lot in the past. The level of the engine coolant sometimes fluctuates or tend to be reduced in the helping box. Some general possible causes
1. bad head gasket
2. leackage somewhere in the system
a.some bad hose where the coolant goes through
b.bad water pump
c. add some other reasons
3. Evaporation of the coolant due to temperatures
Whenever i had to add coolant no more than 200-300gr were needed.
Finally i have noticed that the level of the coolant sometimes is different, that is, lower and then at the same place again? Why this is happening?
I am sure that no1 1 and 2 isn't the case for sure, as this is happening some years now.
Any experiences?

There is a variant still that the radiator, or its cover flows. The thermostat lining can (gasket).
In general if you speak that liquid level falls and then comes back, I think it as with oil. If to check up level of a liquid of not started engine it will be above than level started.

To check the actual level of engine coolant the car must be cold like the morning.
The reserve coolant box has a bad cap that at road bumps let the coolant in little amount to leakage.
The second reason for leakage is the packing rubber ring of radiator.

Finally there is no leak The level of the liquid seems to be different every now and then. Maybe is the way the water fluctuates in the system?
Re: Engine Coolant's level fluctuation.
If you checking the level of coolant when car is hot then every time you looking you might see a different level. The checking process must be with cold engine.
But in case you see the coolant level below the min when car is still hot then you have for sure problem with leakage.

i check it when always cold, the level varies still. It has to do with the movement of the water in the various parts of the engine.

Re: Engine Coolant's level fluctuation.
its probably nothing to worry about, temperature will obviously make a big difference, as will coolant that is stuck in the system that hasnt returned.

Re: Engine Coolant's level fluctuation.
i tend to undervalue this but i check the level regularly... it varies due to coolant stuck in the system i guess... Despite this, if the coolant does not come down a lot from the Minimum mark it is ok. Cheers
Re: Engine Coolant's level fluctuation.
The engine coolant never stuck at the engine.
Always the engine head, block and the housings until the radiator is filled if not you have problem.
If the engine is hot the coolant overflow to the reserve box.
If the coolant missing from the system the engine sucks from reserve box next to the radiator.
When you will see that the level of coolant is under the mark MIN with hot engine then you sure have problem with your car cooling system.

I meant circulating instead of stuck. I believe that level can be different each time because people say sometimes its under one level and sometimes above... Cheers
