Hi, i've made the first programmed maintenance in my Civic @ 100'000 kms
Changed Motor Oil with Shell Helix Hx7 10w40. It's the ancient Helix Plus and had cost 20eur - 5L. Later i've seen that it does not indicates SAE in the label as Honda reccomends in the manual.
Can i use this or it can be worse for my motor? I would like to try a better oil also but with good price. Do you recommend some?
Thank you very much

I always run Helix 10W40 in my D14A3... don't know if there are more variations (Hx7, never paid attention to it?). But I would say no problem . Otherwise 5W40 oils can give a little less friction? I got it in my B16B, also Shell something.
i dont know already if the engine is loosing some oil or not (barely made 2000 kms and already changed the motor oil) ... If yes, 5w40 would not be an option until i change the valve seals. Cheers

I don't have experience with these but we could find some specs of the oil regarding how it performs at different temperatures. Try to find this specs!
Some basic stuff about our oil is to use fully synthetic ones and change every 5-6000km.
The ideal would be to have oil pressure and temperature meters so as to be fully aware about the oil condition.
