Here we are going to talk about various air filters available for d14 engines.
Experiences, photos, performance and filtering will fit here nicely.

Apexi power intake is one of my favorites! It's a dry filter which is a real performer in filtering and power!

For several years now i have simota heat shielded air filter.
It is very cheap and the heat shield works great. Once i tried to remove the shield and when the engine temperature rose i noticed significant hp lose. So the heat shield definitely wokrs. As for filtering i am amazed how well it filters! Every time i clean the filter the intake tube is very clean. No dust, no rubbish inside the tube! Still you can see even with a naked eye that simota is quite restrictive. So i have always wanted to use something else.
Some days ago i ordered Apexi filter which is a dry filter and i can't wait to see how it performs. I know that i should make a custom heat shield, so i should start thinking about that as well.

(

the filter has a good construction, and whit a custom air intake tube that takes air on the front bumper have a considerable gains. in Portugal almost have this configuration and don't want another.

I'm using K&N 3250
But I've heard alot of good opinion about simota, and thinking about some experience with it.
Anyway thank's saxophonias for testing it without shield. I didn't know if it's realy works or it just a gadget. I'll try to find one with shield.

Round here there is a lot of people that believe the more efficient way of use an air system is with an original itr or D15/D16 air box, with k&N air filter and a linkage to the bumper. This means that for the price, the CAI system may not be a lot better as it pulls the hot air from the engine bay.
BTW i cannot understand why our air admission is placed on the only place on the engine bay with so few fresh air.In Portugal its common to see what i've referred
The second one not so that common hehe
Conic Air Filters may have problems at MOT i'm just guessing
