+16 hp not bad) what next step?
camshaft d14a3=d14a4=d14z1=d14z2
but <> d14a8

Re: Cams for D14
Is it better to swap the camshaft from a d16z6 or any kind of d16 or is it better to regrind stock?
Re: Cams for D14
i think if u wanna high RPM u need VTEC head (d16z6 D16y8) and aftermarket camshaft;
if u wanna low Rpm for High Torque u need nonvtec (vtec-e) head with d16w3 or some camshaft;

Re: Cams for D14
I know that this is an old post but i wanted to tell you guys that you "can" put a D16A6 cam in to a D14A4 but it will require some work like head swap from an older 1988-1991-1996 series of hondas. And you will need a 104 tooth timing belt to replace your originall 103 tooh belt and trust me when i say that it will be hard to get in place. The tightenner will have to be in so called 0 position and you will have to use a lot of force, but it will go in there. The reason for this is that the camsaft is sitting 1.5mm higher in the older cylinder head than in the new ones that the D14A4 and so forth uses. Also the cam timing will be of a lot but it will run for enough adjustment of ignition timing. Also the overlap for intake and exhaust is breath taking compared to the stock D14A4 cam. You can actualy hear the difference in the intake side. So if anyone wants to know any tips and part info of the build. Then all you need to do is ask

Welcome on board! I suggest you give us some clues about your project in the welcome section
As for this tune, is it worth it finally, in respect of power gains?

Re: Cams for D14
Thank you I cant say anything about the power gains yet because the heads height differential and the d16a6 cams 4.7 degrees offset are making me run extremely rich in the lower rpms :/ i got 25 HC in the emission tests half a year ago and i finally checked the HC yesterday. I now got over 3000 HC readings at idle and it drops to 900 at 3500-4000 RPM. I am getting a onsoku adjustable camgear and fuel pressure regulator next week, and trying to set the cam timing and the ignition timing correct. But i can say that it still runs fine with full ignition advance, and in the cooler afternoons the car torques way better then before the swap. even with the rich burn, ignition ofset, and the cam ofset. It still revs faster and i think that after the adjustments it is just going to get better Cant wait to get to the dyno
Re: Cams for D14
Hi guys i finaly got the darn thing tuned and somehow working. Here is a litle vid of my first tune run in the open roads https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9a3qcUYsjo My cluch is holding back aprox 15%-20% of the power and the trans cant handle the 7300RPM first to second gear quicksift anymore second gear syncro is ready to blow apart. But what comes to the power gains after raw tune... It is just amazing!! the D16A6 cam is just what the engine needed. And even though i have my fuell pressure set to 2.3 BAR from the originall 1.75 BAR, it is still running a bit lean :/
Re: Cams for D14
Here is a better vid of the acceleration rate of my car with the D16A6 cam and 88-91 cylinder head. I must warn you that the acceleration is not that good because my clutch is dying on me. But here it is----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCqUSijR-9Q Not running so lean anymore tough.
