Hi guys,
Just wondering when i take a D14 block apart; pistons and crankshaft etc out. Do i have to mill the block in order to place the pistons back?
Or maybe someone know a site about how its done?
Thnx!

I think it depends... if you label everything and put it back in the way it came out, you can keep it as it is. But can't be any real advice to you.

I was wondering this, because i see the most people do it. But they replace the pistons to large ones most of the time.
Thanks anyway!

you shouldnt have to do any machining when rebuilding. Unless the measurements you take are out of spec or you are building for closer tolerances or new parts. Obviously it all depends on the state of the engine if the block is warped then you would mill the block to make the surface flat and make sure the head gasket seals properly, also you might decide to do the same to increase compression. For the pistons you would replace the rings and inspect the bores and probably hone them with a honing tool regardless of condition unless the engine is very new.
are you doing it yourself or a garage?

Any need by my spare block? Got a D14 with 200.000km and a lot of wear on everything. The piston I photographed and measured comes from it. You can have it for free, but it needs new bearings and honing.
