had a look on wiki and saw this
D14Z6
Found in:
2002–2005 Honda Civic 1.4 LS (European market)
Engine Name: D14Z6
Displacement: 1,398 cc
Bore and Stroke: 75mm x 79mm
Compression: 10.4:1
Cylinder Head: 16 Valves, SOHC
Red Line: 7600 RPM
Fuel Cutoff: 8800 RPM
Fuel System: Honda PGM-FI
Rod/Stroke Ratio: ?:?
Stock BHP Rating: 90 at 5,600 rpm
Stock torque rating: 130 Nm at 4,300 rpm
Rated Fuel Consumption: 0.52 -> 0.65 Liters pr. Metric Mile
seems interesting as the c/r is higher than most I've seen but having looked at pics to it's a newer coil on plug engine unsure if the engine can be converted to run dizzy setup? this would be interesting to use if the c/r is actually correct just case of finding a good cam and doing all the usual upgrades

The head of the D14Z6 is completely different, no way to run a dizzy on that engine.
I don't know what the difference in the block is, maybe you can run D14Z6 pistons in an older D14. But maybe the difference in compression comes from the cylinder head...

I really like the specs of that one, but is it really just 90 bhp at such low revs while it can rev incredibly high? Look at the torque, it should be able to produce far over 100 bhp stock I'd say.

the rev limiter of ep1 civics is way less than our d14s

Yes the wiki must be incorrect
I think the newer D-series engines (7th gen Civic and 2001 onwards) are more tuned to torque and fuel economy and emissions than older D-series engines. Most likely they will run weaker valve springs than the old D-series.
It might be interesting to compare the newer engines because they produce much more torque, I am not sure these newer engines are being able to perform as well as the old D-series, there must be some compromises in your theory!

I've got a D14Z6 in my EP1, I've fitted an airbox, bigger exhaust manifold,... but this engine doesn't react the same as the older D14. So now I'm searching for other mods that where good on an older D14. I had a cold air intake but lost torque in lower revs, i also had a short ram which gave me more low range torque but also heat soak. The airbox (coolchamber) sucks cold air but had also the advantages of a short ram.
I also read someting about petrol chiptuning, it would make your engine hit your max torque at lower revs and also give you 8-9hp more.
Every information or tips are welcome

do you consider a light turbo?

I'm not sure, its not legal, not always good for the engine and expensive...

Fair enough
Maybe a good cam regrind would give some extra ponies. Your cam should look the same as the bigger ep2 engines. In the states they have the d17 engine. Maybe bisimoto would be interested in that project.

No its a different cam, the EP2 has VTEC, not the VTEC from a type-r, its more an economical VTEC. Yeah
http://www.crower.com/ has cams that also fit the EP2 and are straight fit but they wont fit an ep1 I think??
