Re: Turbo Projects
What happened with this? Some lovely welding on the manifold, what made you go with aluminium?

Re: Turbo Projects
yes i actually did finish it, it runned pretty well for about 5000 km at arround 6 psi, after i pumped up the pressure to 11 psi, and the pistons didn't like it!!! here are the pics of the setup finished
this engine didn't last very long, but i was producing about 190 horses, and it was very very fun!! i'm now working on a b series to replace it

Re: Turbo Projects
Ouch, you're pretty nonchalant about it! Did you get it dyno'd?

Re: Turbo Projects
negatif son, pistons 1 and 4 cracked, but not melted at all, they simply didn't like the extra stress of the higher pressure, but i believe, that the rings didn't seal properly, cause i din;t over bore the cylinders, i just did a hone and new std rings. I guess too much oil started to get in the chamber and then too much pressure built, and... crack!! but well, no biggie, no one over here wants these engines, so i can buy one or 2 for 100 euros lol! but instead i'll be going up a notch with a sleeved b18, i need some biiiiig numbers!saxophonias wrote:so the piston melted? Re: Turbo Projects
now & then when 100 euros is quite cheap for some - while down here its multiplu that by 50 the cost of a b-series..!! i say ur lucky over there having fun
but comp cams and having pistons that can handle high pressure and ull need a dart billet block or ken block ..
i liked ur turbo setup - the runners look wide and sweet but u should have known that with turbo and rising the pressure - well i think u cant remain on the stock block or pistons ..! am i right?
- 190 hp from that engine is sweet - i think if u kept high pressure pistions that could handle high pressure and if u kept a strong block - i believe u must have hit more than 200+ hp especially if u even had a block gaurd.
well a b-series for u is a cheap buy over there from what i hear 100 euros or probably a bit more ...
ur so lucky dude and thats all i can say good luck.

Re: Turbo Projects
you probably didn't understand what i meant, 100 euros is for a D14, here nobody wants them. a b series in more less good shape is 800 euros, just the block, no tranny or anything, so don't worry it aint as cheap as you think
