HRV Ceiling Light Swap to Ej9

Post by BETEK »

I want to swap the ceiling light of hrv to my civic at the front of ceiling cover.

This is the ceiling light of hrv. This has 3 lamps.

I want some help to connect the wires.
From where I must get the power? And have I put another fuse?
I am thinking to get the power from existing light.
If I get the power of existing light wiring will hold out the extra need of power.

And here is the back of light with 3 wires.

Nice project, no idea about your questions though.

Any possibility you can tap in from the original lights wires? I would guess original fuse should hold, lights does'nt draw much electric I think. What is the wattage of the bulbs?

Thank you.
If I manage to do something good then I will post it like DIY.
The specs of lamps are these: 5watt/12volt

Finally I managed to finish this project.
Below are the steps that I did for swapping the Honda HRV ceiling light between the sunvisors of civic 96-00 without sunroof.

I have no responsibility for any errors and accidents that may happen during this process. This swapping I did in my car and just show the steps followed for myself. If you follow some or all of these steps is with your responsibility

1. I cut a piece of paper with the dimensions of the HRV light as a guide for cutting the civic ceiling.

2.I drew the guide lines at civic ceiling

3.I cut the ceiling with blade and tried how fits the hrv light, some additional necessary cuttings did until the proper fit
Image

4.Drilled the hrv light and put a bolt (8mm head) at the hole
Image

5.Removed the stock light

6.Passed 3 cables from stock light hole to the front of the car. I passed red, black, and white cable (I will call them help cables)

7.Denuded the 2 stock cables at the middle and connect the new cables (2 of 3) to them separately and insulated them with electric tape.

8.Opened a hole at the stock ceiling light for passing the negative cable (black one) and put a circle connection at end of black cable.

9.I connect the white-red cable from stock light with the help of the new cable to the white-blue of hrv light and insulate with electric tape.
Then connect the green-red stock cable with the help of new cable with the green-red cable of hrv light and insulate.
Then connect the new black cable just with the black cable of hrv light and insulate.

10.Then assembled the ceiling lights.
Passed the circle connection of black help cable from the hole that I drilled and screwed the stock light.
Then put the hrv light at the cut place between the sunvisors and bolted it.

11. And here is the result :D

Both ceiling lights are working (stock and the hrv)
I kept the stock interior lights fuse (7.5A)

Thanks.
The time that was needed for the project was about 3 hours.
The tip is to not cut bigger hole from the hrv light.
