Ummm, I would have front and rear sway bars, nice firm suspension, bigger brakes front and rear, high compression ratio with nice port job and cam and maybe bigger injectors :)

I'd like to build a high revving NA engine but I'm sure it would end up being more expensive than a turbo one, only with less power. To be honest though I'd rather a really responsive engine than a powerful one. And I like to drive economically and reliably so a turbo probably isn't very suited to be anyway.

i think that a 180hp turbo tuned right, could be more economical and everyday to drive than an n/a d14 180hp engine

Definitely more economical I recon. My car already tipped towards fuel burner once I installed non OEM cam...

I agree but I'd rather save the money and have a nice revvy 150hp NA then a uneconomical and potentially unreliable 180+hp turbo.

Purely because unless your into competitions or a racing friends or something what is the need for the extra power?

the think is that our engines lack torque especially in the low and mid revs which in addition to the gearbox they seem to lack speed. You only see the difference in high rpms. So a turbo solution would fill the midrange gap and would create the impression that you are driving something really powerful. On the contrary, evan a 150hp n/a d14 would have to rev higher in order to make this power. I think that, would ar first reduce the reliability of the valvetrain (especially the retainers) and secondly, again you would have to rev it high to see the speed.

True but like I said I'm not really looking for a fast car, just something that I can drive economically and reliably everyday, with the potential to go fast if the right situation appears. I rarely go above 2.5k rpm on my daily drives anyway. Its like I need to engines in one, and if its a bit lacklustre at low rpm's as long as its still driveable I'm not really bothered.
