As to tuning for variable fuel qualities then surely knock sensors do that job.
With the D14/15/16's that we all love remember that they were all built before the whole emmisions bandwagon got the present momentum. Consequently we still have distributors that need setting by strobe. 7th generation civics went to the next level, total engine management by ECU within certain parameters. Amongst the numerous inputs the ECU has to compute is the knock sensor, it's function is to detect "pinking" (the rattle you get when the timing is too far advanced or the fuel is of poor quality). Consequently a lot of engines run better on LPG than petrol because it's high octane rating advances the ignition timing and enhances the power curve. As far as I'm aware my engine doesn't have a knock sensor, I may be wrong and possibly other D engines do but I'm sure you'll let me know!

I have the possibility of buying a multipoint injection system for my new engine build, I will attempt to post a build thread over the coming weeks. Still having problems with posting photos, can somebody point me in the right direction.

What happens when you allow liquid gas to vapourise without any heat exchange. Was playing with my civic today and allowed gas into the vapouriser without the engine running. The result made a good photo it also highlights the LPG components in the engine bay.

Btw you mention 626? I own an oldskool 626 with 2.5l V6 engine as off today... next to the Civics. (ok ok, very offtopic)
Knock sensors are more for the higher end engines in all ranges. My B16B got one (but not connected). D16Y8 I did not know, but I aint surprised either.

Hi Dodo. Assuming your 626 has an alloy inlet manifold (not plastic!) then a simple open loop LPG system is very do-able. I can provide a list of what you need and how to do it, very cheap way of saving BIG bucks. Just got busy again in my day job with the return of cold weather, have a lot of photos and info to share when time permits.
