looks like my attempts at making a solid basemap have finally succeeded. the old maps were running super retarded ignition because my distributor clocking was heavily retarded. it was taking a LOT of table advance to get the engine to make power and do it smoothly. once I fixed the distributor clocking and set the table values back to that of a stock D16Y8, things feel *much* better.

right now I am running a P72 map with 7* ignition advance and 5% fuel enrichment across the board. this seems to be a very good basemap to start off. need to take a break and after that, work on fine tuning the maps and playing with the adjustable cam gear.

Don't get me wrong but i thing that something is holding your car back. I would expect it to be more rev happy after 5000 rpms. Also you rev up to 8000rpms (7800 real?) and the next gear drops at 5000only. I get at 5k only after having shifted at stock 7200, which means that your box is a mess. Still i see that your 1st gears is super low (imagine revving at 8k ant only having 50km on the dash) and your second too, but they are not well distanced. The same with 3rd too. So I would try to figure out the gearbox issue and why a lighter engine with better r/s ratio doesn't like to rev high fast enough.

the rev limit is set at 7500 RPM. the tacho is wonky because of all the crap I painted the needle with. it under reads until the halfway mark and over reads after that because of the extra weight.
the drop from first to second gear is massive because of the gear ratios [3.23 and 1.7]. I still need to work on fine tuning the map. the basemap that is running right now is conservative in the VTEC area. the ignition advance stays constant across all RPM and changes only by load. it does move and feel better than what it was so far.
previously the engine would literally feel torquey like a truck low down and flatten out totally up top. a lot of this time was spent on getting the timing stuff on point. with every iteration, the torque curve seems to have evened out further.

Could you describe the set up of your car a bit? And mainly the size of the rims and an assumption of its weight. For reference a d14a4 3door civic with 90hp and 13inch rims is as fas as this. 0-100=10.7//// 0-400=17,4 with 126km speed////0-1000=32,5 with 156km

the ECU tune - the most important thing in making the combination work - is far from perfect. I am constantly fiddling around with it and my AFRs still need a *lot* of work. something I have been overlooking because the car runs perfect in closed loop during day to day driving and I have to juggle between this and my work. when I find a few days worth of free time, I will be working on cleaning up the maps.
I can't capture proper launch runs on video because I have to hold the camera with one hand while taking care of steering and shifting. I have a GoPro that I need to figure out how to mount properly, and then I can have a video, VBox datalog and ECU datalog of the same run. again, a matter of time.
here are my best figures extracted from the VBox [same as the picture posted above]
0-100 in 9.8 seconds on a flat road and 10.5 seconds on an uphill road.
quartermile in 17 seconds flat @136 kmph.
0-140 in 18 seconds.
0-160 in 26 seconds.
there also seems to be something odd with the 1000 meter time and speed you posted Saxophonias. the magazine you quote says 0-1000 in 32.5 @ 156 kmph. I hit 160 kmph in 26.29 seconds - way earlier than published - and still took 32.12 seconds to cover 1048 meter - almost the same as published.
something with the magazine figures doesn't seem to check out.

ok so it's normal weight, normal tyres (a bit wide) maybe the speedometer confuses me. As for the time laps of the magazine, they refer to real speed not the km you see on the speedo. Also bear in mind that the d14a4 engines have the loooooong 4rth gear and they are underpowered in comparison to yours so maybe this explains the difference.
Do you experience any flaws form the light flywheel? You must have the d16 clutch combo right?
