Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
where did you see that? any part numbers? Are you sure that the ej9 pad will fit the thicker disc? The mb civics have 262 discs?
Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
Yes the front ones are 262mm 4x100, except the VTI ones that are 282mm 4x114.3saxophonias wrote:The mb civics have 262 discs?
Yes the ej9 pads will fit. When I was searching for brake upgrades one option was also CDTi brakes. I did measurements to the ej9 calipers and pads and my conclusion was that they can fit with CDTi discs.saxophonias wrote: where did you see that? any part numbers? In the past we have discussed this issue here:

Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
Please tell me what part number you need and maybe I can find it.saxophonias wrote: where did you see that? any part numbers? Are you sure that the ej9 pad will fit the thicker disc? The mb civics have 262 discs?
You need for discs, pads, calipers or for something else?

Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
I would like to have the part number of the cdti discs. It's an ep civic turbo diesel right? Also if it is handy I would like the part number of the stock 262mm pads. Could you check whether they have the same part number with ek3 and ek4 and eg vti please?
Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
Yes civic cdti is ep civic turbo diesel 1700cc produced from years 2002 to 2005saxophonias wrote:It's an ep civic turbo diesel right?
The part numbers are different for brake pads between cdti and ej9-ek3-ek4.
Now I remember in the previus discuss I had links with parts numbers too viewtopic.php?f=15&t=676&hilit=cdti
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=676&hilit=cdti
So the part number for cdti civic's pads is 45022-S6F-E50 and for discs is 45251-S6F-E10BETEK wrote:I am thinking one brake set-up for ej9s (262mm discs) long time now but I have never saw it on the net.
So the set-up that I am thinking is:
To swap discs from Honda Civic CTDi EU9 2002-2005 (1.7 diesel model) with stock calipers from ej9.
The pads in both car have the same width
The discs of CTDi is 260mm in diameter and thickness is 23mm (2mm more than ej9 discs, so bigger heat capacity). And we know that bigger heat capacity of brake discs is equal to better braking times and duration.
Maybe will be needed a little bit grinding at the ej9 caliper brackets (green line on the photo)
Here is the detailed specs of discs (from Brembo http://bremboaftermarket.com/En/Car_Dis ... earch.aspx)
Civic 1.7 CTDi : http://bremboaftermarket.com/En/Car_Dis ... e7d35cf6a1

EJ9 (262mm disc): http://bremboaftermarket.com/En/Car_Dis ... 3f4f80b48a

For civic ej9, ek3, ek4 262mm discs brakes the part numbers for pads are 45022-S04-V11 and for discs 45251-SK7-A10 &
45251-SK7-J00

Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
you are the man!! For now I stick to my fresh drilled and slotted brembos which are holding good, but at the next change I will surely go for the them since the thicker the disc the more it holds.
So how is it braking with 282mm discs? Have you seen tremendous difference? I am very satisfied with mines though (262mm discs, tegiwa brake stopper, motul rbf 600 fluids, steel brake lines, ferodo premier pads)

Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
The 282mm brakes is more durable than 262mm in wrapping because of better heat capacity.
But the pedal is little bit slow because of the master cylinder. The 282mm brakes needs 1in master cylinder instead of stock ej9's one 15/16in that is little bit small for 282mm calipers.
If I have to choose now again for brake upgrade I would choose cdti 260mm discs because the low cost and the same functionality of stock ej9 brake system.
But with the 282mm set-up the cost is high because to made to work this set-up properly we have to buy 282mm calipers, discs, pads, master cylinder and maybe wheels if someone does not have 15in wheels.

Re: 1996 - 1998 Brake Upgrade
I will be doing this CDTI brake swap then for sure! Might aswell since I'm gonna have to get 262mm knuckles and calipers anyway, will be cheaper and a substantial upgrade from my 240mm brakes.

262mm discs will fit under 14" wheels, they were standard steel rims on 96-00 civics
Fast, reliable, cheap. Pick any two - because you won't get all three!
