D14 engine comparison

Post by mynameisowen »

Hi guys,

From what I know no-one has started a topic on this yet sooo here goes.

As we all know there a few different D14 variations, wikipedia states there are two; the A4 and A3. Obviously there are others, such as A8, etc...

I myself have an A4 and live in England maybe on the continent you guys get different spec engines, or maybe they come with different cams, ecu's, intake systems, etc.

I am very curious as too the differences between the D14 family so anyone who has a D14 other than A3/A4 please post pics of yours or discribe the differences in your engine, here is a pic of a stock D14A4 (my one) for comparison reasons.

It is absolutely stock, with the shitty downdraft manifold and dual point injection, with 89bhp. If yours is different enlighten us.

Cheers guys!!

Good one! You might want to consider this topic as well!

The major differences are with d14a8 and the engines mounted on the MB series.

Almost everything differs here. Parts from the dizzy to alternator. One reason with this is happening is due to different part suppliers (ukdm vs japan built hondas).

Yes that does look quite different, this engine must produce more power than the standard D14's because of the sidedraft inlet aswell no?? any specs? CR, ECU used, etc...?

Different airbox, gearbox, intake manifold, different dizzy, different brake discs diameter, i think less compression 9:1. It's torquier on low and mid revs but less powerful on top end.

D14Z1/Z2... I believe them to be identical to D14A3/A4 respectively (or vice versa...). Except for one detail: normal dizzy and probably therefore MPFi instead of SFi. Sebas do you know how your injector cables were, 2 or 4 seperate wires at the ECU? Once I knew but forgot.
