Which tyre size and wheel to choose?
Re: Which tyre size and wheel to choose?
195/50 R15 are good size for ej9s.
As they compromise comfort and sport driving.
Bridgestone Turanza have good grip but they crack after 1-2 years of use.
Toyo are slippery from my experience.
Continental are slippery too but have better driving quality from both above brands.
Now with "green" tyres that save fuel it is hard to find non slippery tyres.

Re: Which tyre size and wheel to choose?
I'm willing to sacrifice comfort for sport. I want stiffer sidewalls and high grip in wet and dry. Anything will be an upgrade at the moment. I was thinking of spending £50 per tyre? Can that get me some good stuff? Need cheap rims so maybe stock 14" EJ9 steelies? How low profile could I go to maintain rolling radius?

if you opt for 14inch then you go for 185/60/14 which isn't sporty at all.

Re: Which tyre size and wheel to choose?
Okay I'll try and find some cheap rims on ebay that'll fit. Our cars arte 4x100 right?

Looking at something like this. What offset are our cars stock? Also how large can I go on width on wheel and tyre without rubbing (car is stock height)?

4x100 anything from ET 45 to 35. You can go up to 15x7 with no worries.

Thanks guys, so saxo have you got a source for the offset being anywhere between 35 and 45 is okay? I know that it affects your scrub radius and wheel bearing loading so I don't want to go far from OEM.

Re: Which tyre size and wheel to choose?
OEM ek4 wheels have 45 offset,
but 35 offset it is not something extreme
many people put 38 offset in aftermarket wheels to be in line with edge of fenders
