ITR front brake Upgrade

Post by Smurf »

I upgraded my front brakes to 98 spec ITR brakes a few months ago. Here is what I used.

98 spec ITR Front Calipers (Reconditioned)
Dixcel Type Z pads
EBC blanks 282 4x100 MGZS discs
HEL Stainless braided brake lines
VTI front hubs.

This is basically a direct bolt on. I needed the vti hubs because my standard brakes were 242. If your civic has 262 brakes as standard then you do not need to change your hubs.

The only other thing That needs modified is the calipers needs 2mm grinded of were the disc sits between the caliper and carrier.

This is an unbelievable upgrade. I know wonder how I ever drove my car with standard brakes.

I could have done it alot cheaper by buying cheap pads and also using old second hand calipers but I decided to do it right and spend the extra money.

Hope this helps some of use guys.

Great mod! Thanks for sharing! I would also like something like this, but the problem is that i want to keep my 14inch wheels.

You can also use MG ZS front hubs on the EJ9 or other civic 96/00

And i believe the ZS calipers are also useable, and have a bigger surface than the ITR ones.

Nonetheless great upgrade, even visual ;)

VTi and 98onwards have 262mm, the 96-98 EJ9 has 242mm.

MG ZS has 282mm, just like smurf has.

so thats 40mm or 20mm difference in diameter.
