Supercharger MOD

Post by Law_ »

Hi everyone... i would like to discuss the possiblity of install a Supercharger like a Roots (from a Cooper S) or from a G40 Vw Polo. I would be available to try this in my car if it shows itself reliable and a good option. Please comment. Cheers

sounds good, but i think a turbo would be easier just because there is more support for it. Doesnt mean you shouldnt do it thought, it would be very interesting :)

I think that a compressor to a low displacement engine wouldn't have the same amount of power gains as bigger engines would, due to the fact that the compressor takes its power from the crank.

True it is suited to larger displacement, but if your not looking for crazy power then it would be okay, like under 180hp

My goal is like 130 whp wich gives almost 150hp at the engine assuming 15% dissipated power. I guess the charger would be ok for that kind of power. i got to study the charger mechanism better, and the possibility of doing a mini-me mod at the same time. The compression increase of the mini-me wouldnt be catastrofic with the force induction of the charger?Cheers

I guess that a turbo kit is way too expensive when you compare it to the charger. And the turbo has lag, high EGTs, short usable rpm band..
Those are my main reasons to center in the charger instead.
That and the fact that my car keeps its NA nature, because the delivery of the extra power is constant and not in bumps. dont you agree?
Cheers
