First attempt
Engine Specs
1. panel filter in the stock airbox (apex air attack),removal of the resonator, intake pump 80mm,
2.cat back exhaust 50mm
3.sparks denso iridium power
4.oil used, mobil1 0-40
5."sport-spec" valve timing adjustment.
the results are calculated in the crank
113hp-5840---98whp
141NM at 5177
This is a very optimistic result with the at the time mods.
2nd Attempt
At a Maha dyno
Engine Specs
-118bhp@6500rpm
-137Nm@5400rpm
1.Simota air Induction Kit
2.60 mm intake tube
3.Denso iridium power sparks
4."sport-spec" valve timing adjustment
5.Mobil 0W40 engine oil
6.Custom cat-back exhaust 50 mm
7.Dc Sports 4-1 ceramic coated exhaust manifold
8.Sebring high flow cat
-3-wire O2 sensor
9.JG Edelbrock IM
This is a more optimistic approach. Still no engine management tuning. And as you will see in a while even an apexi vafc gave some hps by improving a/f ratio.
3rd Attempt
This time it's a dynapack dyno which measures power at the wheel hubs. I think this is very reliable as this dyno can't be ''fooled'' by alignment and wheel parameters. It's also great for ecu tuning as it can actually control the engine and hold it every 100rpm. Of course you dyno the car with the wheels off the car.
I went there to tune my apexi vafc with the use of a wideband sensor.
There were several dyno sessions and finally you can see the results. 7whp more, after the apexi had been tuned. Great results.
This is the power curve. The faded one is the first and the bold one is the last. Great improvement throughout the wideband
4rth Attempt.
This is the last dynoplot i have. My car already had 150.000km with stock clutch and a closer and shorter gearbox (4.4FD) meaningly more looses in an ordinary dyno like Dynomet.
The extra mods are the following
55mm exhaust tube
removal of a/c pulley
ram air tube
AEM pulley kit
And here is where i currently stand.
*The previous day i went to another Dynapack which has stricter software
So 98.5whp..
There some minor things that i have in my garage like
Fuel pressure regulator
Cam gear
Exedy Clutch
Fidanza Flywheel
which i intend to use in the immediate future
The real deal i have been planning though, is to use a second stage bisimoto cam along with springs and retainers, rev the engine close to 8000rpm and swap a programmable obd1 ecu.
So more are yet to come for my D14.
