Re: Important specifications of d14 engines
The story of d14 engines begins prior to the introduction of ej9. Actually the first d14 engine had the code d14a1 and was first launched with 4rth gen civics and crxs (1988-1991). Here are it's specs
D14a2 engine came with MA Civic series built at Swindon England. The known as 5-door civic.
The main differences here is the Electronic Fuel Injection PGM-Fi along with ECU.
Same specs with d14a3 apart from performance and ECU.
The list of d14s go on with d14a5 and a7 with 75hp
D14a8=90hp(MB series)
D14Z1-->75hp
D14Z2-->89hp
D14Z3-->75hp
D14Z4-->89hp
The latest engines are found on facelift ej9 civic (99-00 models). This engines have some slight differenced in ECU mapping as they are obd2b in contrast to obd2a 96-98 models.
D14s Throttle Bodies are 56mm like the majority of d-series engines.

Re: Important specifications of d14 engines
Tb is 55mm Not 56mm .
Quote from Endyn:"The combustion chamber is a better shape than the DOHC.So don't chunk those 1.6 SOHC engines, they can make really good power. For a pure performance application, regardless of application, I'd choose the SOHC. No bull!"

Are you sure about 55mm? I always thought that d-series TB are the same 56mm.hondaNickx wrote:Tb is 55mm Not 56mm .

Re: Important specifications of d14 engines
It seems that the EJ9 is better than the 9gen civic(1.4) in both acceleration and fuel consumption..shame..
Comparing the weight and power of both the Ek9 and the Ej9 (at least in theory), i figured that the engine needs HP upgrade of 54% and Torque upgrade of at least 12% to match it. Or this is something like 138.6hp and 134.4 Nm, all achieved by our friends here:)
I guess it's, up to Joris to say if his tuned ej9 runs as well as a stock ek9 (on the straight line that is)
